Service Technician - Field Instrumentation and Controls – St. Louis, MO
Durkin Equipment dba Impact-Automation is a value-added distributor and application specialist of process equipment and control products. Additionally, we provide systems integration services and specialize in the design, build, and startup of municipal process and industrial control systems. We also engineer and manufacture custom hydraulic and pneumatic power units.
JOB SUMMARY:
We are looking for a Service Technician that will perform service work at client sites on controls and instrumentation systems across a wide variety of industries and applications. The service work performed can be any of the following: installation, trouble shooting, calibration, preventative maintenance, and repairs. Good communication skills, flexibility, responsiveness and technical knowledge is critical in effectively serving our client needs.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Perform certified calibrations on a variety of controls and instrumentation (70%)
- Analyze and problem-solve control and electrical issues (20%)
- Installation and repair of industrial control systems (10%)
- Look for opportunities for upgrades and additional repairs
- Effectively communicate with client’s plant personnel
- Maintain field service reports and expenses
- Maintain company vehicle, test equipment, and inventory
- Training support as needed
REQUIRED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
- Knowledge of basic electrical theory
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrates professionalism when communicating with customers
- Dependable
- Trainable/teachable with cognitive and problem-solving ability
- Positive attitude with the ability to adapt in demanding situations
- Able to work in high and low temp areas
- Ability to bend, climb stairs, and lift over 75 pounds
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Two-year technical or electrical degree OR state electrician license preferred
- Experience with calibration of pressure, temperature, flow, level, conductivity meters, CO2 and moisture analyzers preferred
- Computer savvy with knowledge in Microsoft Word & Excel
- Able to work overtime when needed
- Willing and able to travel with overnight stays (2-3 days per week)
- Good driving record
