We are seeking an experienced candidate to join our client as a Collections Manager, focused on ensuring that the credit and collection policies and procedures of the credit union best serve the credit union and its members. The individual in this role will oversee collections staff and provide leadership and guidance.

As an integral member of the leadership team, the Collections Manager will lead a team of 6 employees to provide outstanding service to internal and external members.

What you will do:

• Engage and inspire team members to ensure individual and team goals are met on a daily, weekly, monthly and annual basis
• Maintain compliance with applicable legal requirements.
• Assess department and company results and metrics to gauge team performance and develop collection calling strategies for continuous improvement
• Conduct monthly coaching sessions with team members, phone monitoring and side by side floor observations
• Lead team meetings and continuous training sessions to ensure effective communication, instill a sense of urgency and foster a collaborative team environment
• Evaluate employee performance, compose and deliver performance appraisals in an efficient and constructive manner
• Exercise sound judgment based on company policies and regulatory legal regulations
• Manage all policies and procedures to ensure they are applicable and current
• Handle employee time sheets, requests for vacation or time off and disciplinary actions
• Contribute to creating work schedules that maximize contact rates to improve delinquency while balancing work/life needs of the team
• Handle escalated calls, disputes and maintain professional phone etiquette skills

What you will need:

• Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year College or university; and three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum of 3 years of leadership/supervisory position in Collections; strong leadership capabilities are a must for this role.
• Experience in a credit union, banking or financial services environment is a plus, but not required
• Advanced level Microsoft Excel experience is required
• Thorough knowledge of compliance and applicable legal requirements.
• Experience with consumer lending/auto financing, and bankruptcy regs and reporting is a plus
• Well-developed planning, time management, and organizational skills
