What are the responsibilities and job description for the Spindleworks Artist Mentor - Relief - Brunswick/Gardiner position at Independence Association?
Spindleworks, an art program of Independence Association, supports adults with intellectual disabilities and autism in its Brunswick and Gardiner locations. An artist mentor works with their team members to facilitate the creative endeavors of 40 artists, while also exploring, developing and implementing habilitative and inclusive activities that promote personal skill development. The right candidate should have excellent communication and computer skills, and proficiency in at least two discipline/skill areas. An artist with a variety of art media experience would make the best candidate. This is a unique opportunity for artistic collaboration and community involvement.
5-15 hours/week expected with possible opportunities for more hours on weekends and evenings
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Art Preferred
- Proficiency in at least two discipline/skill areas. Current portfolio.
- Must be willing and able to take courses to become certified as a Direct Support Professional, etc. Paid training is provided.
- Ideal candidate is good with people, outgoing, thrives in an active and fast paced environment, works well both independently and as a team player.
- This person must be comfortable supporting individuals with various levels of disability.

Pay: $18.25 - $21.00 per hour
Expected hours: 5 – 15 per week
