The Banquet Setup Supervisor is responsible for ensuring the proper setup, functionality, and clean up before and after all scheduled banquet functions in a timely and efficient manner to ensure guest satisfaction.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Always approaches all interactions with guests and employees in a friendly and service-oriented manner by maintaining a positive demeanor.
- Promotes a positive and caring work environment by addressing and resolving any conflict in a calm and poised manner.
- Ensures proper setup and functionality of meeting rooms, including breaks, audio/visual and other equipment, per banquet event order (BEO).
- Supervises and assists with event preparation, set up, and cleanup.
- Maintains the highest quality of service related to all banquet and meetings service.
- Ensures associate and guest safety in the set-up and arrangement of banquet functions.
- Directs the proper setup, handling, usage and storage of all banquet equipment and supplies.
- Reviews Banquet Event Orders to ensure the space is set-up according to each client's specifications.
- Ensures that additional food, beverage, and meeting usage over and above the original BEO is being captured and recorded on master BEO's in the catering office daily.
- Supervises maintenance of all meeting rooms during meal breaks.
- Supervises and assists meal service and breakdown as needed.
- Directs guests to necessary services and features, and leading guests on tours of the location.
- Supervises the work of staff by delegating assignments and checking the quality of completed work.
- Assists Banquet Manager in hiring, training, and performance reviews of setup staff.
- Assists with completion of all forms within the department (guest complaints, lost business, weekly recaps, contracts, proposals, banquet checks, etc.)
- Supports other staff to ensure guest satisfaction.
- Solves, rectifies, and mediates all guest complaints.
- Performs any other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
1. Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
2. Minimum 1 year of banquet and hospitality service experience required.
3. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions provided in written, oral, or scheduled form.
4. Ability to read, write, and speak effectively in English in order to communicate with guests and team members.
5. Knowledge of reservation and POS systems.
6. Ability to work with computers and good knowledge of operating software preferred.
7. Must be able to multi-task and be detail oriented.
8. Must be a team player.
