Summary of Purpose / Full Job Description Notes:
Leads monitoring, evaluation and assistance activities for nuclear power stations in their assigned functional area, interacting with utility personnel, INPO/WANO management, and industry professional groups.
Essential Functions
- Act as lead Engineering & Equipment Reliability evaluator on plant evaluations, WANO peer reviews, and assistance visits as described in the Peer Review and Continuum Manual
- Mentor new employees through the engineering and equipment reliability qualification processes
- Work with the industry to improve performance in the materials and equipment reliability areas
- Recognize gaps to excellence in engineering and equipment reliability
- Discern significance, scope, and causes of plant problems and strengths
- Performs other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Advanced knowledge of equipment and integrated plant knowledge
- Working knowledge of design engineering and configuration management processes. Advance knowledge is preferred.
- Advanced knowledge of engineering programs such as FAC, heat exchangers, breakers, and large motors
- Advanced knowledge of AP-913, Equipment Reliability Process Description
- Advanced ability to identify and analyze problems with integration of equipment reliability, work management, maintenance and chemistry
- In depth, comprehensive knowledge of key functional area
- In depth, comprehensive knowledge of the U.S. nuclear utility industry
- Advance proficiency in solving complex and multifaceted problems using data, trend, and analysis to inform decision making
- Advanced ability to use research, analysis, and stakeholder feedback to influence and execute strategies while remaining up-to-date with industry regulations and compliance standards
- Advanced communication skills used to drive organization change initiatives and convey complex ideas and strategies in a clear and compelling manner to stakeholders
- Advanced ability to work independently as well as in teams/groups, in an effort to align long-term organizational strategies
- Advanced ability to work and maintain confidentiality of highly sensitive/private information
- Advanced skills in building and maintaining positive relationships, handling complex conflicts with key stakeholders, and ensuring alignment with INPO’s mission
Education, Licenses, and Certifications
Education
- High School Diploma or GED
Experience
Required
- Five or more years of experience in a relevant specialty area
- Three years of experience in a nuclear technical field
- Commercial nuclear power plant experience or equivalent experience in engineering, maintenance and/or operations with sufficient knowledge of commercial nuclear power plant systems, programs and/or component engineering
- Experience with preventive maintenance programs, including organization efforts
- Experience in or knowledge of key system engineering activities, including system health reports, monitoring, and causal analysis
Preferred
- Five years nuclear plant, and a range of design engineering, system engineering, engineering programs or similar experience
- Five years of supervisory experience
