We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Industrial Generator Technician to perform start-up, maintenance, and troubleshooting activities on Industrial Mechanical and Commercial (IMC) generators, with a focus on large engine systems. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with the installation, start-up, maintenance, and repair of industrial-grade generators and large engine systems, ensuring reliability and optimal performance in critical environments. This position requires a strong understanding of generator systems, engine mechanics, and electrical components.
- Lead the start-up and commissioning of IMC generators, including large engine systems, ensuring all components are operating according to specifications and manufacturer guidelines.
- Perform scheduled maintenance activities on industrial generators, including oil changes, fuel system checks, coolant system checks, battery maintenance, and other mechanical and electrical checks.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and control system issues, identifying faults and performing repairs to minimize downtime and ensure continuous generator operation.
- Conduct testing and calibration of generators, including load testing, voltage regulation, and frequency settings, ensuring systems are operating at peak performance.
- Develop and implement preventive maintenance plans to enhance the reliability and longevity of generator systems. Ensure compliance with service schedules and manufacturer's recommendations.
- Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, service reports, troubleshooting logs, and parts inventory, ensuring proper documentation for future reference and compliance purposes.
- Adhere to all safety standards and practices when working on generator systems, ensuring all work is done in compliance with local regulations, industry standards, and company policies.
- Provide customer support, answering questions, explaining maintenance or repair work, and offering advice on how to maximize generator performance and lifespan.
- Assist in training junior technicians and apprentices, sharing knowledge and best practices to ensure high standards of work and safety are maintained.
- Ensure all testing equipment and tools are calibrated and in good working condition for accurate performance testing and troubleshooting.
- 3 years of experience as an Industrial Generator Technician, with specific experience in the start-up, maintenance, and troubleshooting of large engine-based IMC generators.
- Strong understanding of engine mechanics, electrical systems, and control systems related to industrial generators, including large diesel or gas engines.
- Relevant certifications such as generator-specific certifications, or diesel engine repair certifications are preferred.
- Ability to diagnose mechanical and electrical issues effectively, with a strong understanding of generator control panels, electrical components, and systems.
- Familiarity with industry standards and regulations, including NFPA, NEC, and environmental regulations.
