Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to provide job coaching and support for individuals participating in the Office of Developmental Programs (ODP) and the Office of Vocational Rehabilitation (OVR) program. The ideal candidate will assist clients in finding and maintaining meaningful employment while helping them develop the skills and confidence needed to succeed in the workforce. As an Employment Specialist, you will supervise job coaches, work closely with clients, employers, and other professionals to ensure a successful transition into employment for individuals with disabilities.
Responsibilities
- Job Coaching & Support: Supervise job coaches. Serve as backup job coach to provide one-on-one job coaching for individuals with disabilities, assisting them in navigating job searches, interview processes, and workplace integration.
- Employment Readiness: Assess clients' skills, interests, and needs to develop personalized employment plans. Conduct job readiness training, including resume writing, interview preparation, and workplace etiquette.
- Job Placement Assistance: Identify suitable job opportunities through outreach to local employers, build relationships with businesses, and advocate for individuals with disabilities as viable candidates for employment.
- On-the-Job Support: Provide on-site job coaching, assist with job tasks, and help clients develop new skills to succeed in their roles. Offer ongoing support to ensure job retention, including troubleshooting any issues that arise.
- Collaboration: Work closely with Service Coordinators and OVR Councilors, employers, and other service providers to coordinate services and ensure that the client’s goals and needs are being met effectively according to their ISP’s and Service Plans.
- Documentation & Reporting: Maintain detailed case notes, progress reports, quarterly reports, and other required documentation for clients, following ODP and OVR guidelines. Track client progress and outcomes for reporting purposes.
- Skill Development: Facilitate the development of soft skills such as communication, time management, teamwork, and conflict resolution to help clients thrive in their role.
- Job Retention: Provide ongoing support and periodic check-ins with both clients and employers to ensure long-term job retention and address any concerns that may arise post-placement.
Skills
- Certification in Job Coaching or related field.
- Experience working with individuals with various disabilities, including physical, intellectual, and developmental disabilities.
- Knowledge of labor laws and regulations regarding employment and disability rights.
- Experience with adaptive technologies or workplace accommodations.
- Proficient in mentoring techniques that foster personal growth and independence.
- Ability to communicate effectively in both English and Spanish is preferred.
Work Environment
- This position includes traveling to York, Gettysburg, job sites, meetings and client's homes.
- Flexible working hours to accommodate client needs may include evenings or weekends, when necessary.
- Use of your personal vehicle may be required to transport clients to/from worksites. (reimbursement is available)
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour
Expected hours: 30.0 – 40.0 per week
