Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Other duties may be assigned depending upon operational needs
Primary Duties
· Understand and effectively utilize all employee safety programs to ensure proper procedures are followed. Act immediately upon unsafe conditions or behavior
· Follow up with day to day operations and allocate resources as needed to ensure production demands are met in a timely fashion.
· Review quality data on a daily basis and follow up as needed to inspect equipment, and modify sanitation or process procedures.
· Review safety practices and procedures on a regular basis and make corrections as needed.
· Responsible for production data entries that impact inventories of raw materials, packaging supplies, and finished product. Follow up on Oracle entries and correct as needed. Will assist in performing physical counts.
· Work with the Lead Operators to help them grow and develop in their position. Act as a resource to ensure correct transfer of information and knowledge.
· Coordinate with maintenance personnel to ensure preventative and corrective maintenance is performed in an efficient and timely manner.
· Schedule employee vacations, training, and other events that require them to be off shift. Cover open lead shift positions and asssit as needed with coverage for overall operation of the facility.
· Identify key areas for process or procedure improvements. Perform testing and analysis to ensure positive results before implementation.
· Coordinate scheduling and allocation of overtime or temporary labor.
· Assist in interviewing, hiring, and training of new employees.
· Provide leadership and be a good example to all employees.
Secondary Duties
· Special projects as assigned by senior management. When instructed, temporarily replace Production Superintendent in his or her basic activities and responsibilities during absences.
Safety
Be responsible for the safety of all plant employees, contractors, and visitors. Lead by example in the area of personal safety. Foster an environment of safe practices, open communication, personal responsibility, and active participation in any, and all, safety related initiatives. Know/learn all Company safety policies and practices along with any, and all, applicable OSHA rules and regulations. Work closely with EH&S staff to assure the plant is compliant with all necessary training, audits, and record-keeping. Be responsible for prestart-up and start-up safety protocols and reviews.
Environmental, Quality, and Legal Requirements
Have knowledge of or the ability to be trained to understand and comply with the following:
· Environmental: Universal Waste, Hazardous Waste, SPCC, and Air Emissions
· Safety: All applicable OSHA Rules and Regulations
· Quality: Quality Management System
· Legal: all pertinent Human Resources and Environmental Laws and Regulations
Qualifications

· Food product packaging and/or blending experience preferred.
· Ability to coordinate multiple priorities and follow through to completion.

· Ability to develop spreadsheets, memos, and reports.
· Excellent management, leadership, and people skills.
· Ability to prioritize, organize, and delegate work.
· Solid understanding of basic math and science and the ability to apply this knowledge.
· Ability to analyze data and facts and make decisions based upon this information.
· Must be able to work with minimal supervison.
· Must have flexibility in work schedule.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences, Chemistry, or engineering preferred. In lieu of an applicable degree, at least four years of experience in food manufacturing required.
Language Skills
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, PID charts, and procedure manuals. Ability to write basic reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized and non-standardized situations.
Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations
Ability to be forklift certified required.
Ability to be CPR/First Aid certified required.
