Job Summary

Job Developers provide employment connectivity for our immigrant and refugee job seekers by working directly with employers in a variety of industries and positions across Springfield and Southwestern Missouri to facilitate screening and referral to jobs. Job Developers also guide, coach, and prepare clients for successful employment and career advancement in the US. This regularly requires local travel during work hours as part of the role.  


This position is responsible for upholding the International Institute's mission, vision, goals, and objectives. 


Duties/Responsibilities

  • Participate in full cycle recruitment activities including job description development, sourcing, screening, interviewing, onboarding and posthire support by working with employer partners
  • Engage and recruit for a variety of positions with family supporting wages and based on careerladdering options and client career pathway needs
  • Maintain regular (minimum of biweekly) contact and interactions with assigned employers over the phone, through email and facetoface interactions
  • Serve as the primary liaison between clients and employers for all questions and issues that may arise pre, post, and during hiring process.
  • Serve as the primary coordinator between clients, other Agency staff, and employment partners to ensure that clients are provided the necessary Work Related Expenses (WRE) and Transportation Related Expenses (TRE) under each respective grant and partnership, and that reliable arrangements are made for client's transportation to and from work.
  • Collaborate with Workforce Solutions and Client Care staff for clients' program enrollments and to ensure proper documentation for grant compliance - including overseeing and coordinating 90 day post-employment follow ups
  • Participate in departmental meetings and employment and career advancement projects
  • Prescreen clients for specific roles to ensure successful referral to employment opportunities to meet the client's needs and goals, utilizing a clientled service approach
  • Coordinate with Agency Workforce team and Agency Client Care Team throughout the entire hiring process for each hired individual to ensure all necessary steps and requirements are fulfilled before client begins work
  • Oversee and coordinate applications and onboarding of clients with Agency Workforce and Client care staff in weekly Agency Employment meetings by monitoring and updating assigned databases and tools
  • Teach and reinforce employment preparedness curriculum and workshops and coach clients during their employment process, as well when issues arise
  • Closely collaborate with the other departments' staff to assist in creating synergy amongst the program's training, prescreening, career advancement, and outreach strategies
  • Complete all associated and assigned grant reporting and documentation
  • Maintain confidentiality of all client records and information
  • Other duties include coldcalling, report writing, maintaining and updating employer records, scanning, retention documentation, etc., among others
  • Perform other appropriate duties as assigned

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines; possess flexibility, professionalism, and empathy in times of stress
  • Strong organizational skills and experience with self-directed workload
  • Ability to prioritize, effectively manage multiple projects concurrently, and take ownership of work.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team as necessary.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of organization's information.
  • Must be meticulous, but able to maintain a balanced perspective in rapidly changing business circumstances.
  • Ability to work productively in a multicultural environment and demonstrate respect for differences.
  • Have a genuine passion for the organization's mission. 
  • Ability to work an irregular schedule, if necessary
  • Proficient MS Office skills (Word, Excel and Outlook)
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, as well as critical thinking ability. 
  • Ability to treat confidential information with sensitivity. 
  • Commitment to excellence and high standards. 
  • Linguistic ability in Swahili, French, Arabic, Dari, Pashto, Kinyarwanda, or Somali preferred
  • Knowledge of US employment law/recruiting process is preferred

Other

  • Appropriate availability consistent with organization established practices and norms; hours not to exceed 40 hours per week without prior supervisor authorization. 
  • Ability to work at CultureFest, World Refugee Day and IISMO Annual Football Tournament 
  • Ability to pass a standard background check. 
  • Must have a car and a valid driver's license with proof of insurance 

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree with relevant coursework (such as Human Resources, Marketing, Public Relations, or Business Administration), preferred
  • Associate's Degree with relevant coursework and 2 years of full-time experience
  • Increasingly responsible (2-4 years of full-time equivalent experience) in job development, human resources, job placement, or closely related field.
  • Prior sales or customer service experience a plus
