The Microfiche Digitization Manager oversees the operations and staffing of a professional, high-quality microfiche scanning center while collaborating with developers to improve processes. Location: Onsite in Richmond California, car is required.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Management & Administration:
Oversee digitization workflows of all items sent to digitization centers, ensuring that digitization is completed in a timely manner with weekly status updates.
Hire and manage 2 shifts of digitization staff and provide support, coaching and performance feedback.
Master scanning techniques and workflow yourself and then ensuring consistently exceptional scan quality by the staff by tuning procedures and training.
Coordinate remote Quality Assurance procedures to include maintaining QA tracking workflows and tracking and reporting on the organization’s quality performance.
Collaborate with fellow, remote Digitization Managers to set goals for the group, as well as meet weekly to address operation and engineering issues.
Manage microfiche storage and coordinate packing, shipping and receiving additional materials.
Other duties as assigned.
Technical Skills:
Work closely with the Engineering team to test new digitization hardware and software, including reporting issues, user testing and feedback, and suggestions to optimize quality and efficiency.
Maintain the digitization equipment, including routine maintenance and calibration of cameras and upgrading software components when appropriate.
Qualifications:
Detailed-oriented person with project management experience and excellent follow-through.
Experience managing 10 shift workers to make improving productivity and quality fun.
Excellent communication skills and experience in building relationships with clients and other vendors to provide a high level of service.
Tech-savvy person who is comfortable troubleshooting hardware and software; knowledge of coding is not needed, though comfort in a command-line environment is preferred.
Experience working with software engineers.
Track record of success in creating and streamlining processes and implementing quality improvements.
Flexibility and willingness to take on new projects that may be outside the scope of regular duties.
Commitment to the greater good and to doing work that has a long-term societal benefit.
Knowledgeable about cameras and digitization workflows is helpful.
