What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sanitation (Pack/Prep Sani) position at J & J Snack Foods?
POSITION SUMMARY: Inspection of product and performs daily sanitation of food in the processing area.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Follows outlined sanitation procedures for areas assigned for line sanitation and during downtime clean-ups.
- Assists general sanitation crew for timely start-ups.
- Complies with all safety regulations and follows safe methods in sanitation and chemical usage.
- Reports all accidents/injuries and unsafe conditions to shift supervisor.
- Abides by safety rules as outlined in company policies and procedures.
- Inspects materials, products, and containers at each step of the manufacturing process.
- Relieves packers/general laborers for rest breaks and lunches.
- Assists in reclaiming scrap.
- Assists in keeping cartons formerly stocked with cartons.
- Assists in providing proper packaging/prep material to packaging/prep lines.
- Transfers finished product and/or inspected rework product into secondary and primary containers in the proper number and manner.
- Reports to the shift supervisor and/ or area lead any deficiencies that could affect the finished product quality.
- Performs other related work as assigned.

Required Skills:
- Must be able to work with limited supervision. Be able to follow written and verbal instructions. Be able to use various sanitation tools and equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to effectively communicate in English or Spanish to commensurate with the requirements of this position.
Preferred Skills / Experience:
- Prior Food Safety experience preferred.
- Prior Warehouse experience preferred.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Required Education: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) desired; or up to one month of related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Pay: $18.84 per hour
Expected hours: 40 – 60 per week
