Job Description

Position title: Sales Lead Full Time

Department: Retail

JOB SUMMARY:

Supports the store manager in maximizing store potential, achieving sales productivity goals and profitability as well as hiring, coaching, and developing associates as selling and style advisors. Works closely with the store manager to carry out corporate policies and assists with ensuring excellent J.Jill visual merchandising and operational standards. Acts in the capacity of Manager on Duty in absence of Store Manager and/or Co-Manager.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Sales Generation and Performance

Provides leadership in achieving individual and store sales and productivity performance goals:

  • Reviews all store goals and results and assists with implementing actionable plans to improve store performance if necessary.
  • Forecasts business and communicates appropriate goals to associates to drive results and hold teams accountable, while managing expenses.
  • Assists with communicating store and individual goals to all associates in the store and use metrics to motivate and coach to behaviors.
  • Uses the current store reports and tools to consistently and effectively coach and communicate goals and priorities to all associates.
  • Identifies and celebrates individual and team successes.
  • Builds customer loyalty by leading associates to create genuine connections with customers, achieve J.Jill Credit Card and Email capture goals and assist with company sponsored outreach to acquire new customers and participate in local customer outreach opportunities to increase customer visit frequency.
  • Works with customers to resolve merchandise and customer service issues timely and effectively, ensuring a positive customer experience and continued customer loyalty.

Coaches Store Team

Promotes a positive and energetic store atmosphere of teamwork as well as individual associate contribution:

  • Acts as a role model by delighting customers and segment selling goals are achieved
  • Ensures customers are encouraged to try on items and associates are genuinely advising to help her build her wardrobe in the fitting room.
  • Challenges individuals to learn and grow and try new skills and selling approaches and share successes with one another.
  • Encourages store associates to try on new styles to enhance product knowledge.
  • Encourages store associates to assist customers in building great outfits and project the J. Jill brand image.

Talent Management
Assists the Store Manager in identifying and recruiting talent to support J. Jill culture and brand goals and objectives, and assists with filling open positions in a timely manner. Conducts ongoing training and development of all associates on selling culture and techniques, policies and procedures, and operational and visual merchandising standards. Assists the Store Manager with evaluating associate performance and developing associate skills and knowledge through feedback and challenging assignments. Visual Merchandising Assists with planning and executing floor set and ongoing re-merchandising of store. Ensures excellent visual standards are consistently maintained. Replenishes the sales floor consistently to ensure all sizes and minimum standards are represented on the sales floor.

Operational Excellence

Assists with developing weekly store schedules to maximize coverage during peak selling time and adjusts schedules as needed to meet customer needs. Utilizes company tools to ensure optimal daily floor coverage and zoning, as well as management of tasks. Participates in all operational areas and functions including: knowledge and implementation of all company policies and procedures, marketing, product replenishment, markdowns and promotions, store cleanliness and backroom organization. Assists with protecting company assets and reduce merchandise shrink by overseeing internal, external and administrative inventory processes according to company procedures. Ensures compliance to company policies and procedures, and federal, state, and local employment laws to ensure a safe environment and protect Company assets. Works with the Store Manager as needed on loss prevention investigations. Performs all duties in the best interest of the company and brand.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Ability to clearly communicate goals and objectives to team.
  • Treats everyone on the team with dignity and respect, and motivates through inspiring and encouraging leadership.
  • Strong leadership qualities, training, and team building skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills with statistical track record in all areas of sales.
  • Experience in recruiting and retaining a talented sales and support team.
  • Strong communication and analytical skills.
  • Strong style, merchandising, and wardrobing skills.
  • Must have the availability to work during the majority of peak business periods, including Saturday and Sunday.
  • Entrepreneurial and creative.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • 1 years of women’s specialty retail experience. 1 years in a store management position preferred.
  • Point of Sale (POS) and general computer experience.
  • Experience in sales leadership

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to communicate verbally with customers.
  • Extensive standing, walking, and maneuvering around sales floor and stock room.
  • Hanging/folding merchandise, ladder climbing, operating POS Register.
  • Ability to lift and carry
