Summary

The HR generalist helps other human resources staff perform essential duties at a company or organization. Your duties and responsibilities include recruiting, developing and documenting HR policies, working on performance management, new employee on-boarding, administering benefits and compensation policies, and taking part in employee relations, welfare, and safety education. You will assist the HR manager in these duties and take on other projects as assigned. You are a point of contact for company employees who have HR questions.

Qualification Requirements

  • Associate's degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred
  • 2 years in similar HR Generalist position with payroll and benefits administration
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws governing employee relations practices
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to apply discretion and maintain a high level of confidentiality when handling sensitive information

Minimum Qualifications

  • Human resources certification
  • Working knowledge of employment laws and regulations (ADA, EEO, FMLA, FLSA) and the ability to appropriately spot employment risk issues
  • Advanced skills in Outlook, Excel and proficient in Microsoft PowerPoint
  • 1-2 years using web based electronic payroll systems
  • Proficiency with UKG a plus
  • Healthcare experience a plus

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Excellent and effective written and oral communication skills. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint use and e‐mail communication. 
  • Dependable, manages time well; efficient and organized. 
  • Ability to produce accurate work; ability to perform multiple tasks in a proficient and prompt manner. Must be able to work with changing priorities. 
  • Requires excellent organizational, problem solving and critical thinking skills.  
  • Must be able to interact with individuals of all cultures and levels of authority.  
  • Requires the ability to maintain confidentiality.  
  • Must be able to function as part of a team
  • Ability to prioritize workload, multi-task, and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to understand, interpret, develop, and communicate company policies and procedures
  • Ability to understand and follow written and oral directions
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
  • Ability to take initiative to complete projects, tasks, and assignments.

Supervisory Responsibilities N/A

Essential Functions

  • Maintains exact and up-to-date human resource files, records, and documentation; Maintains integrity and confidentiality of human resources files and records
  • Assists with payroll processing to include answering employee questions, fixing processing errors, running reports, end-of-year and other system maintenance and configurations, end-of-year preparations, etc.
  • Proficiency in HR software to manage payroll and employee benefits, including bonuses, leaves, and absences
  • Organize copies of employee records
  • Process documentation and prepare reports relating to performance evaluations
  • Support employees when human resources issues arise with efficient problem-solving
  • Reinforce the company policies, rules, and procedures to ensure employees’ safety
  • Oversee employee labor laws and regulations to assure compliance
  • Assist in the coordination of staffing and recruitment processes
  • Recommend and develop employee relations practices to foster a positive employer-employee relationship 
  • Maintain the work structure by updating job requirements and job descriptions for all positions
  • Answers questions from employees relative to standard policies, benefits, payroll, etc.; refers complex questions to HR Manager
  • Process 401K contributions on a weekly basis
  • Conducts new employee onboarding and orientation

  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and recent technologies in payroll and communicates these changes to the HR Manager.
  • Maintains strict confidentiality in accordance with company policies
  • Conforms to acceptable attendance and punctuality standards as expressed in the Employee Handbook.
  • Follows all safety rules and protocols.
  • Reports all accidents, regardless of severity, immediately to supervisor and works with Compliance officer for completion of reports and reporting procedures within 24 hours of incident.
  • Conduct benefits enrollment for eligible employees; assist with benefit administration including health, dental, voluntary life, vision.
  • Ensure legal compliance by monitoring and implementing applicable human resource federal and state requirements and, conducting investigations
  • Abides by the company's compliance program, policies, and procedures.
  • Remains current with all required training.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to, stand, sit, talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard reach, stoop kneel to install computer equipment or AV 
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision requirements due to computer work and distant vision requirements 
  • Light to moderate lifting is required 
  • Ability to uphold the stress of traveling periodically
  • Regular, predictable attendance is required

Work Environment

Indoor, temperature-controlled environment; occasional travel to sites.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $48,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
