JOB DESCRIPTION
I. PURPOSE FOR POSITION
Establishing and maintaining sales, cost, and profit goals in the Dairy/Frozen Department through the correct ordering, handling, and merchandising of the dairy and frozen products; and performs and/or seeing that all work in the department is done in accordance with sound basic management principles and in the most efficient manner.
II. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

III. RESPONSIBILITIES
A. Operational
1. Orders all dairy/frozen products subject to the approval of the Store Manager.
2. Receives and checks all dairy/frozen deliveries upon arrival to see that all merchandise is in good condition and that the correct quantity and weight are received.
3. Sees that all dairy/frozen products are properly prepared, handled, stocked, and merchandised and/or stored, and that all dairy products in the backroom storage are checked daily.
4. Plans special promotions and displays with the Grocery Manager.
5. Sees that all dairy/frozen merchandise is rotated according to code dating policies.
6. Is responsible for signing and pricing.
7. Is responsible for gross profit and distribution.
8. Is responsible for inventory control.
9. Determines markdowns consistent with quality and quantity, and sells items at minimum loss. Keeps the Grocery Manager informed of all markdowns and losses.
10. Keeps Dairy/Frozen Department fixtures, equipment, and area clean and free from accident hazards at all times.
11. Handles all store property and equipment in such a manner as to secure maximum use.
12. Bookkeeping, including all paper work and record keeping.
B. Personnel
1. Practices and promotes good customer relations.
2. Assists in scheduling and labor control standards.
3. Orientation of employees in the Department.
4. Properly trains personnel assigned to the Dairy/Frozen Department.
5. Maintains a high level of product knowledge and merchandising ability to accomplish DairyFrozen Department goals.
6. Evaluates employees assigned to the Dairy/Frozen Department.
