Lifeguard
Responsibilities
- Maintain constant surveillance of all guests in the pool, at the beach and in surrounding areas.
- Provide emergency care and treatment as required until the arrival of EMS
- Enforce all safety and security guidelines in the pool areas including not allowing swimming in unguarded areas
- Assist in the upkeep of the pools by checking and recording chemical balances and vacuuming the pools daily
- Perform various maintenance duties as directed to maintain a clean and safe facility, including but not limited to: sweep pool deck, clean sand areas, remove trash, wood and objects from member areas and keeping a clean surf line by raking sand numerous times daily
- Presents professional appearance and attitude at all times.
- Follow all health, safety standards, security guidelines, policies, and initiatives
- All other duties as may be assigned
Requirements
- Knowledge of CPR and emergency medical procedures and ability to react calmly in emergency situations
- Ability to relate and communicate effectively with youth and adults in a positive manner
- Skilled int eh application of lifeguarding surveillance and rescue techniques
- Visual and auditory ability to identify and respond to environmental and other hazards related to the activity
- Physical ability to respond appropriately to situations requiring first aid. Must be able to assist guests in an emergency (fire, evacuation, illness, or injury) and possess strength and endurance required to
- CPR / AED / First Aid Certification; Lifesaving/Lifeguard Certification
- Must be able to work entire season, from Memorial Day through Labor Day without any vacation, or time away from work.
- Must be 16 years of age
Education & Experience
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent (we accept high school seniors and juniors)
Experience: Previous youth camp experience (including as a participant) preferred
Resort / National Park experience preferred
Hourly rate of pay $16.50
