Description
Purpose: The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for transforming customer requirements into products that meet quality and cost targets established by the business. This is accomplished by designing and implementing manufacturing processes using machines, equipment, fixtures, automation, and facility layouts in order to optimize production capabilities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Become a process expert on die cutting, slitting, and laminating technology by understanding process development, machine setup, operation, and troubleshooting.
- Work with the commercial side of JBC to determine customer requirements and process feasibility.
- Utilize Computer Aided Design (CAD) to design parts, die, fixturing, and new capabilities. Analyze the design and test out prototypes. Need to be capable of adjusting designs to fit the needs of the customer while maintaining productivity and cost requirements of JBC.
- Identify potential failure modes in the process and develop plans to mitigate non-conformances
- Create clear work instructions for manufacturing to operate equipment and processes
- Verify production labor and material rates meet the quoted standards for assigned products
- Document and maintain changes to processes in the enterprise software and quality management systems
- Ensure on time completion of all assigned projects
- Responsible for developing and providing training on production processes.
- Work with scheduling to provide alternative processing options to eliminate bottlenecks and ensure on time delivery to customers.
- Recommend new equipment so that JBC stays ahead of the market in die cutting technology.
- Responsible for all VAVE and Cost out projects in designated manufacturing area.
- Submit ideas for continuous improvement of products and processes
- Support Quality with customer complaints and corrective/preventative actions
- Maintain a clean and safe plant by participating in 5S and safety audits

- Other responsibilities as assigned by management
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor Degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing Technologies, Engineering Technologies or equivalent work experience.
- 0-5 years working in a Manufacturing Environment.
Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Microsoft Office Experience required. Detail oriented and good communications skills required.
- CAD software experience preferred
Physical Demands:
- Light to moderate physical effort required on a constant basis
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
- Required to sit, stand, bend, reach and move about the facility for an entire shift
Personal Protective Equipment:
- Steel Toe/Safety Toe shoes required for production floor
Work Environment:
- Work performed in a plant/production environment
- Contains any number of elements including but not limited to fiberglass/insulation material, dust, fumes, and noise.
- Must be able to work as part of a team or independently with limited supervision
