Expectations of the candidate:
A qualified candidate has 5 years of tax experience in public accounting and is up to date on current tax practices and law changes.
The ideal Senior Accountant has excellent accounting knowledge and has strong time management and client service skills, in addition to strong tax knowledge and preparation skills. To perform the job successfully an individual must be able to balance details with billable time. It is essential that the individual have strong written and verbal communication skills and is a team player. As a Senior Accountant with JBA you will work with a team of professionals to prepare a high volume of small business and high net worth individual returns.
Experience with Engagement, CCH Axcess, Engagement and QuickBooks is strongly desired.
Responsibilities
- Review client trial balances and prepare adjusting entries
- Reconcile retained earnings, payroll and other accounts
- Calculate depreciation
- Prepare corporate, S-Corp, partnership and complex individual returns
- Client communication for additional/missing information
- Understand and apply tax reduction strategies
- Execute tax planning for companies and individuals
- Perform tax research
- Assist in preparation of reviews and compilations
- New Client Onboarding and Client Facing Interaction
Skills
- 5 years of proven individual and business tax preparation experience
- Strong understanding and proficiency in accounting
- Knowledge of the tax code for individuals and small business
- Capability to manage multiple engagements simultaneously
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high pressure environment
- Team player who communicates and collaborates with colleagues to get the job done
- High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Trustworthy with attention to confidentiality
Job Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Accounting related field, MS in Tax preferred
- Active CPA License
- 5 years in public accounting with a concentration in tax
- Strong people and communication skills
- Excellent Accounting Skills are Mandatory
- Strong Proficiency in S-Corporations and Partnerships
- High level of comfort using technology to create efficiencies in workflow
- High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel, and Word
- Experience using CCH Products is a plus
- Ability to work effectively under pressure
