JOB SUMMARY
Perform entry level professional work in the enforcement and administration of the Missouri Juvenile Justice System. An employee in this position is vested with the statutory authority of a juvenile court officer to take charge of children who come under the jurisdiction of the Juvenile Court or Family Court. This position is expected to exercise supervision over juveniles under the court's jurisdiction. Employees in this class are expected to work with some degree of independence. Close supervision is received from the Director of Child Protection Services. The work generated by this position is reviewed by the Director of Child Protection Services.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Participates in family support meetings by contributing to the development and subsequent review of case plans which focus on the safety and expedited permanency of youth. Documents content and progress of family support team meetings by regularly generating reports for placement in youth's social file. Provides information to parents/ guardians about Juvenile Court process and time frames.
- Serves as liaison between the Court's legal staff and judicial staff, participates in the preparation of cases by reviewing court reports, by acquiring adult arrest records, by obtaining addresses of absent/unknown parent. Meets prospective relative care providers and conducts home visits as appropriate.
- Establishes ongoing contact with Division of Social Services caseworkers and Guardians ad Litem to determine compliance with court orders by all parties, provides information to the Juvenile Office Legal Services Division for the development of motions when parties are not in compliance with court orders.
- Attends abuse/neglect hearings presented before the Juvenile Court and submits disposition recommendations consistent with case plan and time standards.
