GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The SWD Operator reports to the Midstream Superintendent and works closely with production staff conducting well activities near the Barstow / Pecos area of West Texas. The SWD Operator will be supervising tank, pump, and well maintenance along with basic labor and cleaning duties.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Monitor, operate, and maintain water, oil, and gas facilities and fixed infrastructures; which includes source water, SWD and recycling of produced water, pipelines, lay flat hose, water supply wells, frac ponds , SWD wells, centrifugal pumps, plunger pumps, diaphragm pumps, H-Pumps and VFDs, high pressure and low pressure piping, tanks, meters, transmitters, valves, pig launchers/receivers, overhead powerlines, motor control centers, engines, compressors, heaters, coolers, fans, pumps, instrumentation, alarms, and other equipment / controls.
- Communicate issues to SWD Lead Operator in a clear and timely manner.
- Answer and respond to phone “call outs” 24 hours a day while “on call” and report to work within two (2) hours when needed.
- Ensure that facilities are operationally available 24/7.
- Monitor facility performance, diagnoses inefficiencies, and remediate facility issues.
- Supervise 3rd party work on and around facilities as needed for maintenance & construction and ensure work complies with facility procedures and policies.
- Perform arduous tasks in place of roustabouts from time to time that include, but are not limited to, painting, cleaning, trimming vegetation, operating a pressure water/steam cleaner, carry, use, and care for heavy hand tools, make pipe connections, install valves, hoses, regulators, and fittings of all sizes.
- Plan and delegate facility start-up and shutdown operations.
- Maintain a supply of consumables and spare parts and equipment necessary to prevent downtime and/or curtailments due to shortage of the supplies listed.
- Operate and maintain fleet vehicles as required by fleet manager.
- Observe chemical program and work with operators and vendors to optimize dosage and turning in fluid samples to a lab for analysis.
- Prepare facilities for maintenance, repairs, or upgrades, and turnover to other crafts.
- Maintain responsibility for lease operating expense performance at facilities.
- Attend 90% of company safety meetings.
- Attend 80% of training, lunch and learns, etc.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Must possess knowledge & have experience in oil/gas production.
- Time management - this role requires excellent time management skills, since operators need to determine which tasks are most vital and set priorities throughout the day.
- Team coordination – SWD Operators work with other companies, crafts and departments on well sites, tank batteries, SWDs, pump stations, meter sites, frac sites, drill sites, and other oilfield locations, so they should be able to effectively coordinate team member activities.
- Must have good verbal communication skills to be effective in working with team members, clients, and vendors, coordinate activities, and ensure safety onsite.
- Must have basic fluency in Microsoft Office, with the ability to grow skill.
- Must be able to learn, use with confidence and train others to use computer programs, including but not limited to Ignition, eVIN and M-Files.
- Safety procedures - maintaining site safety is central to this role, so operators should be familiar with and adhere to safety procedures and precautions at all times.

- No minimum education requirements, however High School or GED is preferred.
- Minimum of five (5) years of oil and gas experience, preferably in salt-water disposal operations or pipeline operations.
- Minimum one (1) year SWD and pipeline experience.
- Must have and maintain current motor vehicle driver’s license.
- Must be willing to work rotating shifts, nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Must be available to work when called in within two (2) hours.
- Work will require standing, stooping, walking, climbing tank stairs, carrying instruments weighing up to fifty (50) pounds.
- Strength and dexterity - this role involves a significant amount of physical labor and the ability to operate in cramped, elevated, and uncomfortable spaces.
- Physical and mental stamina - operators also need an elevated level of physical and mental stamina to work shifts that can exceed twelve (12) hours for weeks at a time.
- Must be able to climb 16’ or 25’ stairs.
- Frequently lifting, up to 50 lbs. individually and up to 100 lbs. with assistance
- Occasionally working in severe weather conditions including extreme hot and cold temperatures.
- Muddy and wet conditions are frequent.
- H2S Certification will be required within 90 days of employment; company provides training.
