Job Summary
The Press Operator, working in conjunction with the Press Feeder, assists in the production of high quality printing jobs, to meet customer and company expectations, in a cost-effective manner while meeting strict deadlines, on one of several large printing presses.
1st Shift - typical hours 6 : 00 am - 2 : 30 pm
Responsibilities
- Complete understanding of LAB values and image control via color scanning device
- Ability to achieve proper registration, ink and water balance and maintain color balance throughout job
- Working knowledge of dot gain, proper trap, inks and coatings and how they work with a multitude of substrates
- An understanding of plate curves and how they affect the CT in ¼ tone, mid tone and ¾ tone values
- Ability to retrieve JDF files, and to preset the CPC 2000 and set up press the most efficient way
- Good eye for color and be able to match proofs
- Knowledge and ability to hang blankets and plates, and to pack press properly
- Knowledge of the Alcolor Water System and Vario Roller Hickey Picking System
- Working knowledge of the Technotrans Cooling and Water System
- Be able to work at a high production rate in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to operate motorized pallet jack and / or forklift (certification may be required)
