Job description
DEFINITION: (Maine State Regulations) "A Resident Assistant (RA) is a person in an entry level position who provides, under supervision, direct support services to clients in an ICF/MR (IDD) facility." "A Direct Support Staff person is one whose daily responsibility is to manage, supervise and provide hands-on care to clients in their residential living unit."
JOB SUMMARY: The RA works as a new team member who is receiving training, providing active treatment according to an active treatment schedule which includes: provision of activities, promoting the growth, development and independence of the people served, following habilitation plans and specific behavioral interventions, providing and training the people served in skills of daily living and as appropriate - personal hygiene, grooming and personal care, health maintenance, self-preservation and safety, self-direction, communication skills, social skills and training in community orientation. Training is provided on an ongoing basis.
