About Us:
Located in the heart of the Fort Worth Stockyards, the John Wayne: An American Experience (John
Wayne Museum) is a unique cultural institution with a mission to preserve the legacy of the iconic
American, John Wayne. Our 14,000-square-foot facility recently underwent an exciting expansion and
remodel, focused on optimizing exhibit space, introducing rotating exhibitions, significantly expanding
our retail area and offering private event rentals throughout the space. As the primary public-facing
institution for John Wayne's legacy, we are actively seeking an experienced and dedicated Assistant
Manager to support the Retail Sales Manager in the operations and spearhead our growth.
Position Overview:
The Key Holder will work closely with the Retail Sales Manager and Assistant Manager to manage the
day-to-day operations of John Wayne: An American Experience, a 14,000 square foot Exhibit and Retail
space. Responsible for all the tactical and practical duties, including the opening and closing of both
spaces, stocking inventory, selling, customer service, and managing all other daily operations.
Key Elements of the Role:
Provide direction and leadership to sales associates in the absence of management.
Responsible for the opening and closing of the Exhibit and Retail spaces, including cash register
procedures.
Setting the priorities of projects and other objectives for the day
Provide excellent customer service on the selling floor, in the fitting room and at the cash wrap.
Monitor store to ensure optimal floor coverage and floor management, including inventory and
replenishment.
Handle and resolve any customer and operational concerns or emergencies.
Handle the online and retail ticketing system.
Optimize sales opportunities through established merchandising strategies.
Ensure store compliance with health and safety regulations and state and federal labor laws.
Must be able to lift a minimum of 20 pounds.
Weekend and holiday availability a must.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
3 years of direct retail experience, 1 year of supervisory or management experience.
Highschool diploma and or GED equivalent required, associate degree or higher preferred
Excellent verbal communication skills
Excellent active listening skills
Excellent sales and customer service skills
Extensive knowledge of the merchandise sold
Ability to anticipate customers needs
Ability to recommend merchandise to customers.
Ability to operate or to quickly learn the stores point-of-sale system.
Strong work ethic, responsive, diligent, and attention to detail
Ability to work a flexible schedule
Experience with online and retail ticketing systems a plus
Business casual appearance and attire required
