Wood is recruiting for a Distribution Project Manager / Project Engineer to join its Transmission & Distribution business focusing on power delivery projects. This opportunity is Remote, based in Charlotte, NC.
This role will be responsible for leading the management and execution of distribution projects, ensuring project requirements are met in terms of quality, schedule, and budget. Additionally, it will oversee engineering efforts, coordinate project scopes, and ensure compliance with established standards. The role will also provide mentorship to junior engineers, perform QA/QC tasks, and support construction activities to ensure successful project implementation.

- Monitoring budget and schedule for electrical and other scopes of work and identifying scope and schedule changes in accordance with the Change Control Process
- Mentoring and developing junior engineers and designers
- Engineering of distribution and station electrical projects through the entire project lifecycle: from conceptual and feasibility, though detailed design, and into construction and into service
- Business Development of existing and new clients
- Management of project delivery including schedule and budget control and adherence
- Leading or supporting transmission, stations, overhead and underground distribution engineering projects by clearly defining scopes of work, completing cost estimates, performing engineering calculations, and developing detailed design drawings
- Supporting documentation processed for projects including technical specifications, tender documents, technical reports and project calculations
- Completion of QA/QC tasks including reviewing, checking and approving work output of assigned personnel, as required
- Providing construction support and overall project engineering coordination, including outages
- Supporting the Engineering Manager and Projects Director in project controls tasks
- Providing leadership on new engineering programs as they arise
- Responding to information requests during construction and completing project documentation including as-builts, calculations and return of data to the client
- Maintaining and enhancing relationships with other design disciplines and external stakeholders and assist team leads and managers
- Traveling and visiting project sites during design and construction

Expected:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
- 5 years of project management experience in an engineering field, preferably in distribution
- Experience working with utilities in Florida
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
Desirable:
- Master’s in Business Administration (MBA)
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
- Familiarity with structural, civil, and geotechnical aspects of distribution engineering
- Experience with substation, distribution, and transmission project
