Summary
Under the direction and supervision of the Athletic Superintendent and/or Complex Supervisors, the Athletic Field Facility Attendant must be able to perform a variety of maintenance tasks related to athletic field maintenance. Must be able to provide quality customer service to both internal and external customers and be flexible and adaptable to shifting priorities.
Essential Duties

- Participates in athletic field game preparation for scheduled events.
- Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor on and off of the athletic fields.
- Prepares and maintains athletic fields by performing turf-grass management skills.
- Lines all athletic fields for practice and scheduled game events; while using the proper skills to perform in a satisfactory manner.
- Participates in the maintenance and service of all turf-grass equipment.
- Maintenance of common ground turf/grass and landscape areas surrounding athletic fields. This job task includes: trash pickup, edging, mulching, and weed control in landscape beds.
- Clean and maintain upkeep of washrooms
- Other duties as assigned.
Hours
Seasonal Position. This position will vary between morning, afternoon, and evening hours. Must have flexibility to work Monday – Sunday (weekends required) and may include holidays. Must be able to work nights and weekends throughout the months of March-November.

Work Environment
Work is performed in both an indoor and outdoor setting where there is often exposure to inclement weather, odors, and toxic agents. This position will work outside in all weather conditions, unless otherwise stated.

Required to stand and talk or hear; use hands and fingers to handle, feel, or operate objects, tools, or controls and reach with hands and arms. Required to walk, sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch and smell. Must be able to lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close and far vision and the ability to adjust focus. Hand-eye coordination is necessary to operate various pieces of machinery.
Education and Experience
Some high school coursework
Additional Eligibility Requirements
- Must be at least 16 years old and have a valid Illinois Driver’s License.
- Good communication skills required.
- Must be able to take direction and work well independently and as part of a team. Previous grounds maintenance experience preferred.
- Must be able to perform manual labor in various weather conditions including high heat and humidity.
- Must be able to work flexible hours with possible overtime during prime seasons
