Salary Range : $15-$16 DOQ
Reports to : SRJC Superintendent / SRJC Camp Program Leader

Summary
Under the direction and supervision of the SRJC Camp Program Leader, the Camp Counselor will provide a safe and fun environment for children with disabilities while participating in camp activities.
Essential Duties
Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential duties.
- Maintain effective communication with supervisors, camp staff, participants, and families
- Directly responsible for the safety and supervision of camp participants
- Implement daily program plans
- Supervise and interact with assigned participants during all day camp activities and on field trips
- Actively participate in all camp activities, including swimming
- Complete daily reports for participants
- Assist with daily living skills
- Maintain a positive environment
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized environment for children to learn and grow.
- Maintain program supplies and equipment
- Know health emergency procedures and evacuation plans
- Enforce policies, rules, and safety regulations.
- Drive a Joliet Park District vehicle when necessary
Hours
This is a part-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday. Summer position end of May through end of July.

Camp Participants
Work environment
This job will be performed indoors in a temperature controlled setting. At times, job tasks will include participating outdoors with varying weather conditions. Work environment may be loud at times.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift, move and set up program supplies / equipment. Must be able to perform assigned tasks.
Education and Experience
A high school diploma or GED required.
