Position Summary
The position's primary purpose is to supervise and maintain grounds related to Campus Parking Services. The position provides oversight for tasks which include landscape installation, maintenance and removal, keeping all Parking facilities free of refuse and debris and removal of snow and ice.
Duties & Responsibilities

  • Supervise the daily cleanliness of Parking Lots and Facilities. All lots must be cleaned using various sweepers, vacuums, and hand equipment. All trash must be removed daily including emptying of waste receptacles throughout parking lots and facilities.
  • Assist in the prioritization of work activities for the grounds and maintenance staff to identifying those issues that are routine versus those that require immediate redress and communicating that info to Facilities Management supervisors.
  • Oversee seasonal grounds projects related to Parking Services such as all aspects of landscaping, asphalt repair and installation, and snow removal.
  • Inspect parking facilities and areas to ensure the health and safety of employees and customers. Such inspection should encompass cleanliness, lighting, signage, damage, and operational deficiencies. Issues that are deemed hazardous are to be addressed with expediency.
  • Monitor and evaluate the need for the repair or purchase of additional tools, equipment and/or supplies. Position may also be responsible for the maintenance and complete documentation of inventory of all departmental equipment and supplies.
  • Identify and provide solutions to Parking Services programs that may positively or negatively impact the operation.
  • Supervise the regulation of traffic into and out of parking facilities during special events and in unforeseen situations such as equipment malfunctions, unscheduled relocations, and traffic congestion.
  • Initiate and monitor progress of purchase requisitions or work orders. Thorough communication of job needs to the supplier or the tradesman is essential.
  • Respond to and assist in resolving emergency situations such as power failures, vehicle accidents in lots, injury to customers and employees, etc.
  • Assist in the planning, revision, and implementation of new and/or improved Parking Services Programs or policies.
  • Work with other managers of Parking Services to create a positive rapport with faculty, staff, and students by maintaining a strong customer focus.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • One (1) year (12 months) of work experience in traffic engineering, public works, traffic enforcement, or parking/traffic pattern layout or design.
