Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsible for full-time on-site safety and occupational health management for the project, will be designated as "competent person" and responsible for providing safety direction and ensuring adherence to all safety regulations and programs through coaching, training, visibility, gaining the trust of workers and building a culture of personal awareness and accountability.
Conducting daily inspections and maintaining safety documentation.
- Conducting incident investigations and maintain OSHA 300 form.
- Attend construction progress meetings.
- Maintain tracking system to monitor identified deficiencies and implement plans to ensure their resolution.
- Researching, analyzing, documenting and providing ongoing advice to site management to ensure all tasks are performed safely.
- Ensuring subcontractor compliance with safety and health requirements.
- Recommending improved procedures.
- Schedule and execute safety training and tool talks.
- Conduct business with 100% integrity and professionalism
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
- Minimum of 3 years of full time safety experience in heavy civil construction projects.
- OSHA 30-hour completion (or equivalent) within the last 5 years.
- OSHA 500 certificate preferred but not required
- Coal Ash Experience preferred
- 24 hours of formal safety training each year for last 5 years.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel
- Position requires independent professional judgment and ability to resolve most work issues without management guidance.
- Organization and planning skills
- Attention to detail
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Heavy civil construction Safety Experience - preferred
- Large utility Safety Experience – preferred
