JOB SUMMARY
The Jump! Immersion Elementary Grade Teacher is responsible for implementing daily lesson planning, executing positive classroom management, and ensuring a nourishing and safe environment for students. The teacher will foster the intellectual, social, and emotional development of young children in alignment with our school curriculum, the target language (Spanish), and New Jersey educational standards. Additionally, the teacher will embrace the Jump! Immersion philosophy, creating a dynamic learning experience that emphasizes language acquisition and personal growth.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Student Supervision: Supervising children at all times and ensuring their safety at the center, following all center policies and procedures.
- Relationship Building: Developing a loving, positive rapport with students to create a welcoming and inclusive classroom environment.
- Positive Reinforcement: Applying positive reinforcement techniques consistent with the Jump! teaching philosophy to foster confidence and a growth mindset.
- Lesson Planning & Delivery: Creating and delivering engaging language immersion lessons using the Total Physical Response (TPR) approach, focusing on meaningful activities that align with the NJ State Standards for the grade assigned.
- Social/Emotional Development: Fostering the development of students’ social, emotional, and academic growth through structured activities, class routines, and interactions.
- Assessments: Conducting both formal and informal assessments to gauge student progress, adjusting lesson plans accordingly to meet their individual learning needs.
- Differentiated Instruction: Designing differentiated activities to accommodate diverse learning styles, abilities, and language proficiency levels.
- Individualized Support: Developing and implementing individualized action plans for students requiring additional support.
- Technology Integration: Incorporating technology and instructional media (e.g., educational apps, interactive whiteboards) to enhance student learning and engagement.
- Documentation & Reporting: Regularly updating classroom boards, student portfolios, and report cards. Maintaining detailed records of student progress, attendance, and incidents.
- Parent Communication: Maintaining open lines of communication with parents and guardians in person, via email, and through newsletters, ensuring they are informed of classroom activities and student progress.
- Family Engagement: Encouraging and organizing family involvement in school events, classroom visits, and cultural activities.
- Child Protection: Using appropriate procedures to report any suspicions of child abuse or neglect, ensuring a safe environment for all students.
- Daily Operations: Ensuring proper sign-in and sign-out procedures for children, reporting all incidents to the supervisor, and completing necessary health logs and/or incident forms.
- Classroom Maintenance: Ensuring the classroom is well-stocked, organized, and clean, taking responsibility for supplies, equipment, and materials.
- Teamwork & Support: Collaborating with other teachers and staff to ensure the success of center activities. Actively assisting the center in day-to-day operations and special events.
- Emergency Procedures: Keeping up to date on emergency procedures, first aid, and safety protocols.
- Professional Attire: Adhering to the school’s dress code, ensuring professionalism in attire while maintaining comfort for active classroom engagement.

STANDARD QUALIFICATIONS FOR POSITION
- Experience: At least 1-2 years of relevant teaching experience with young children, preferably in an immersion or bilingual setting.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, or a related field.
- Language Proficiency: Ability to communicate fluently in English and the target language (Spanish). Native proficiency in Spanish is preferred.
- Eligibility to Work: Must be eligible to work in the United States and pass required fingerprint and background clearance checks.
- Certifications: CPR, First Aid, and other relevant certifications (e.g., teaching certification) are a plus.
