Job Summary: The Jupiter Christian School Teacher must be a spiritually sensitive individual who understands the mission and philosophy of Jupiter Christian School and is committed to helping see it become a reality in the lives of our students by manifesting, by precept and example, the highest Christian virtue and personal decorum, serving as a Christian role model (I Timothy 4:12) both in and out of school (Luke 6:40), and as an example to parents and fellow employees in judgment, dignity, respect, and Christian living according to the Conditions of Employment outlined in the JCS faculty contract. The teacher must be a born-again Christian with spiritual maturity in academic and leadership abilities that will enable him/her to teach God’s truth. The ability to communicate well with various types of people, handle confidential information appropriately, maintain a courteous, professional, and respectful attitude and integrity in all situations are prerequisites.

General Description of Duties and Responsibilities

The successful STEM/Technology Specialist is a great communicator (written and verbal) with excellent interpersonal skills who also understands and prioritizes the importance of computer literacy, digital citizenship, technology applications, and computer science including coding and robotics in middle school education. The specialist actively collaborates with colleagues to plan new and innovative approaches for implementing problem and inquiry-based instructional activities. Prior experience in K-12 STEM-related fields, project-based learning, and developing STEM programs is desirable.

Essential Job Requirements

  • Teach technology and STEM-related classes for 5th through 8th grade students via Project Lead the Way curriculum
  • Delivers STEM-oriented instruction (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) through Project-Based Learning methods.
  • Design teacher-made STE(A)M challenges to support 5th-8th NGSS and B.E.S.T Math standards
  • Apply science and/or math content knowledge, formative assessment, and technology integration to ensure and measure learner progress.
  • Demonstrate evidence of productive experience with problem-based learning.
  • Demonstrate a passion for and expertise in both the teaching and development of STEM curricula, courses, and programs.
  • Be an exemplar in the use of technology in the classroom to engage learners and build positive relationships.
  • Be thoroughly conversant with current thinking on teaching K-8 STEM, basic computer applications, and Digital Citizenship.
  • Implement and develop PLTW and Lego robotics competition opportunities (eg. ACSI STEM) at the middle school level.
  • Evidence of planning, organization, and time management skills that will bring structure and accountability to the position
  • Participate in grade-level and department meetings to coordinate curricular projects and provide targeted support toward STEM instructional approaches
  • Participate in ongoing professional development to research and identify best practices related to STEM computer science education, coding, robotics, etc.
  • Serve on division-level and school-wide committees, e.g., curriculum resource adoption, curriculum writing, test analysis, etc. as requested
  • Builds effective relationships with parents and students through regular communication and is available to students and parents for education-related purposes, e.g., open houses, conferences, and extra-curricular activities.
  • JCS “Plus One” principle - JCS expects all faculty members to be involved as either sponsors of or participants in at least one co-curricular, athletic, or student life activity outside of the classroom e.g. Middle School STEM club

Qualifications
Spiritual

  • Must have a clear testimony of personal faith in Jesus Christ as Savior
  • Please check the school's website (www.jupiterchristian.org) regarding personal faith alignment to the JCS statement of Faith
  • Must be able to demonstrate active membership and involvement in a local church

Education

  • Required: Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM-related field.
  • Preferred: Masters and/or FL state teaching license preferred.

Experience

  • Required: STEM or related field teaching experience: minimum of 2-5 years teaching experience with knowledge and expertise in curriculum mapping and STEM for middle school students

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $42,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
