Hours: Variable hours; 5 days per week; 40 hours per week August- May; 5-10 (as needed) hours per week in June and July

General Description of Duties and Responsibilities
The Substitute Teacher Coordinator plays a critical role in ensuring smooth and effective classroom coverage by managing the substitute teacher program for preplanned and last-minute absences. This position requires close collaboration with the Human Resources (HR) team for onboarding and offboarding, training substitutes, scheduling, and responding to daily requests from faculty. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, proactive, and able to communicate effectively with various stakeholders across the institution. They must maintain flexible work hours to meet the demands of the role and may be required to step in as a substitute for administrative staff as needed. The Substitute Coordinator is a full-time, school-year employee with opportunity for per diem in June and July and who reports directly to the Director of Curriculum and Instruction.

Essential Job Requirements
Scheduling and Coordination:

  • Collaborate with divisional principals and Director of Learning Services to schedule qualified substitute teachers for daily and long-term coverage.
  • Balance cross-division schedules to optimize teacher coverage and resource allocation.
  • Be accessible during early morning and late evening hours to handle emergency requests and last-minute scheduling needs.

Training and Development:

  • Facilitate onboarding and training for new substitute teachers to ensure they are prepared for classroom responsibilities.
  • Maintain compliance with school policies and emergency protocols during substitute teacher training.

Resource Management:

  • Maintain a pool of qualified substitute teachers to meet the dynamic needs of JCS's West Campus.
  • Secure and provide all necessary lesson plans, class rosters, and emergency protocols for substitutes.

Administrative Duties:

  • Manage and report teacher absences accurately, ensuring proper documentation.
  • Oversee payroll-related tasks for substitute teachers, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Maintain updated records of substitute teacher credentials, availability, and performance.

Operational Readiness:

  • Work during school breaks and summer months to prepare the substitute teacher pool for the upcoming academic year.
  • Ensure substitute teacher readiness in alignment with school schedules and standards.

Additional Duties:

  • First line substitute for staff positions of front desk, copy room, and roles with attendance functions
  • Additional duties including data entry as determined by manager

Qualifications
Spiritual

  • Must have a clear testimony of personal faith in Jesus Christ as Savior

  • Must be able to demonstrate active membership and involvement in a local church

Education

  • Required: High School Diploma
  • Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in an Education Related Field

Experience

  • Managerial Experience in a fast-paced environment
  • Preferred: Experience working in private education.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
