Job Overview:
Kamps is seeking an Operations Management Trainee. The Operations Management Trainee position is a 6-18 month long, entry-level position to prepare leaders for management roles. This entry-level position is designed to provide comprehensive training and hands-on experience in various aspects of operations management. Successful candidates will have an interest in applying hands-on, practical skills—such as building, measuring, and using power tools—in addition to the ability to lead people and manage operations. Candidates with an entrepreneurial spirit, some business knowledge/education, and strong interpersonal skills will excel.
Essential Functions:
- Engage actively in a structured training program covering all facets of operations management
- Learn and understand company policies, procedures, and operational workflows
- Rotate through different departments within the organization such as dispatch, customer service, safety, etc. to gain a holistic understanding of operations
- Repair, sort and build pallets; operate various saws or other pieces of equipment
- Become certified and operate a forklift to service a department or to load/unload trailers
- Travel to multiple Kamps facilities for site specific training
- Attend and complete required training classes and read assigned training materials
- Collaborate with team members to contribute to ongoing projects and daily operations
- Identify areas for process improvement and efficiency gains
- Work with mentors and managers to implement improvements and streamline operations
- Work closely with team members and supervisors to gain insights into team dynamics and effective leadership
- Foster positive relationships and effective communication within the organization
- Build leadership capabilities through exposure to leadership roles, decision-making opportunities, and team management responsibilities. Learn effective communication, delegation, and conflict resolution skills
- Implement continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to a culture of innovation and excellence
- Observe rules of conduct and safety at all times
Requirements & Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Operations Management, Logistics, or a related field preferred
- Ability to adapt to new challenges and changing priorities
- Willingness to learn and take on new responsibilities
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to assess and address operational challenges
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with team members
- Proactive attitude and a self-starter who can take the initiative to drive improvements
- Entry-level supervisory experience preferred
- Able to lift 50lbs
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus
- Must be willing to relocate
