Located in Wichita, KS, Kansas Spine & Specialty Hospital (KSSH) is a regional center for the diagnosis and treatment of disorders of the spine, neck and joint. Dedicated to improving the quality of life of our patients, Kansas Spine practices a team approach, providing patients with access to a specialized team of surgeons, anesthesiologists, pain management providers, internal medicine physicians and nurses.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Conducts thorough and precise assessment of patient condition, functional abilities, homebound status, and environmental factors.
  2. Provides care in accordance with physician orders, patient condition, accepted standards of practice, and KSSH policies, procedures, and processes.
  3. Evaluates effects of physical therapy treatments via observation, notation and evaluation of patient progress; recommends adjustments and modifications.
  4. Recognizes and reports changes in patient condition.
  5. Makes appropriate recommendations for necessary equipment, home modifications, and referrals to PT facilities and other therapies as indicated.
  6. Completes discharge planning by consulting with physicians, nurses, and other health care workers.
  7. Instructs patient, family and or/caregiver in all aspects of patient care.
  8. Documents assessments, treatments, re-evaluations, and patient responses to treatment per hospital policies and procedures.
  9. Ensures delegated patient care for patients/families is provided according to plans developed by treatment team and within the confines of the applicable practice acts.

Qualifications:

  • Masters of Physical Therapy or Master of Science in Physical Therapy degree from accredited program. (Bachelor's degree if grandfathered by appropriate regulatory agency.)
  • Doctor of Physical Therapy preferred.
  • Possession of valid state license as Physical Therapist in the state of Kansas.
  • Current BLS required or must be able to obtain within 60 days of hire.
  • One-year Physical Therapy experience required.
  • Ortho, neuro experience preferred.
