What are the responsibilities and job description for the Primary Lead Montessori Teacher position at Karter Schools?
Karter Montessori of Gainesville is currently accepting applications for a full-time certified Lead Montessori Teacher for Primary classroom (ages 3 - 6). Karter Montessori offers an authentic Montessori curriculum focused on community growth, collaboration and unity through shared values rooted in empathy and peace.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Refine & maintain the Montessori classroom “prepared environment” for the child to explore, creating materials and designing lessons as necessary for the success of the classroom
- Give sequential Montessori presentations, according to the individual needs and progress of each child, and in accordance with the Montessori teaching philosophy
- Track individual child progress
- Create and maintain a safe, joyful, positive atmosphere for the children
- Carefully observe individual children to gain insight into their needs, and problem solve their challenges in order to meet those needs
- Be a positive leader for Assistant Teachers and/or Floaters who will support the classroom
- Communicate proactively with parents on an informal basis, including emails, verbal conversations, and active Facebook posting on the campus closed Facebook group
- Write progress reports twice per year
- Conduct parent / teacher conferences twice per year
- Hold one-on-one meetings with parents as necessary to meet the needs of individual children
Required Skills/Experience
- Montessori Teacher Certification (AMS, AMI, NAMC, etc.) required
- At least one year full-time teaching experience with a group of children in a Montessori setting
- Must have a warm, supportive, and patient attitude and disposition toward working with children and their families
- Kind thoughtful, and strong at guiding children in self-motivated learning and helping stimulate their natural desire to learn
- Energetic, flexible, collaborative and proactive
- Completion of a background check required
- Be at least 18 years of age
