THE ROLE: The Design Engineer is an integral member of the technical team who provides expertise and capability in multifaceted mold concepts for automotive and non-automotive applications. The Design Engineer will be responsible for designing and helping to direct the build processes of production injection molds, compression molds, and supporting automation projects.

Responsibilities include:

• Design and modeling of various elements of injection molds
• Prepare data for downstream manufacturing processing
• Prepare engineering documentation
• Completing assigned tasks within budgeted schedule
• Applying sound engineering and manufacturing practices
• Working in a team dynamic with other designers, engineers, project managers, and manufacturing personnel
• Participating in design reviews, both internal and with clients
• Bringing forward continuous improvement ideas
• Assisting in other areas for cross-functional support as needed

THE CANDIDATE: The candidate must be formally educated in an applicable discipline such as, mechanical engineering, product design, manufacturing engineering, or plastics technology. The candidate should be mechanically inclined with demonstrated talent and capability with complex CAD modeling and assembly management. The candidate should have a strong grasp of mechanical design, as well as familiarity with standard manufacturing and fabrication processes. He or she must be an excellent communicator, and thrive in a high-energy, quick-moving, and interdisciplinary workplace.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Minimum of associate degree in a relatable field of study
• Experience using CATIA V5 or Cimatron CAD software; comparable systems such as NX will be considered
• Basic knowledge of plastic injection molding
• Adept in the use of general metrology equipment (calipers, micrometers, etc.)
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office products: Outlook, Teams, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, One Note
• Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Must be detail oriented and highly organized

Bonus Talents:

• Hands-on industry experience a plus
• Coding for software automation (VBA, Microsoft Power Automate, or C )
