POSITION SUMMARY:

KENT® Nutrition Group, a division of KENT Corporation's family of companies, is actively seeking a Quality Assurance Manager- Central Region. This role is responsible for execution of KENT Nutrition Group Quality Assurance programs in the Central Region facilities. In the absence of the Quality Assurance Manager - Central Region, duties will be performed by other KNG Corporate Quality Assurance Staff. The position reports to KENT Nutrition Director of Quality Assurance and Regulatory Affairs.
- This position is designed and intended to be performed in Muscatine, IA.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- One Quality Control Supervisor at each Central region plant.
PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Primary contact for QC supervisors regarding QA/QC related questions or situations.
- Ensure compliance with corporate standards and procedures.
- Review and implement departmental standard operating procedures and policies.
- Work directly with the Region Director(s) of Plant Operations.
- Conduct out-of specification and corrective action investigations for the Central region plants.
- Perform internal audits.
- Serve as the primary QA contact for consumer complaints on products manufactured at Central region plants.
- Serve as the QA/QC liaison with contract manufacturers located in the Central region.
- Assist with management and review of quality control data for Central region plants.
- Provide training to quality control personnel.
- Assist with the coordination of market retrievals.
- Participate in Corporate QA meeting.
- Assist with the development and implementation of HACCP programming at the Central region plants.
- Assist with the implementation and monitoring of third-party certification programs at Central region plants.
- Report potential feed and food safety issues to Corporate management.
- Lead and assist with quality and consistency studies and projects.
- Assist with mixing efficiency studies and sequencing studies
- Review QC Meeting notes each month from the following plants
- Mason, MI Logansport, IN Beardstown, IL
- Rockford, IL Waterloo, IA
- Develop knowledge of the AFIA Safe Feed Safe Food certification program.
EDUCATION:
- Bachelor of Science degree
EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS:
- 1 year minimum (3 years preferred) experience in quality assurance, quality control and/or plant management
- Demonstrate ability to interpret a wide range of analytical data.
- Successfully, clearly and concisely communicate detailed knowledge with peers, either in writing or verbally.
- In-depth knowledge from 3-5 years of experience in the animal feed manufacturing industry.
- In-depth knowledge of Microsoft tools, specifically Word and Excel
- Thorough understanding of cGMP’s related to animal feed manufacturing.
- Knowledge of HACCP (or HARPC) principles as they relate to animal feed manufacturing
- Understanding of the KNG Feed and Food Safety Plan preferred.
- Excellent relationship/team building characteristics.
