Housekeeping Assistant – Custodial Services Kentucky Christian University

Position Summary:
Performs custodial maintenance activities and related duties.

Reporting Relationship:
The Housekeeping Assistant reports administratively to the Housekeeping Supervisor. The Housekeeping Assistant works closely with all operational units across campus.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Complete duties, as instructed, areas of assigned responsibilities.
2. Dust and clean off surface.
3. Clean mirrors and windows.
4. Empty trashcans and replace liners.
5. Edge and vacuum.
6. Clean under beds and dust bed frames.
7. Clean out overhead storage units.
8. Scrub shower walls and floors.
9. Clean and sanitize sinks and toilets.
10. Sweep out bathrooms and mop.
11. Clean out overhead light fixtures.
12. Report any maintenance work orders.
13. Maintain and comply with all policies, rules, and regulations included in the KCU Staff Handbook.
14. Carry out additional duties as required or assigned.

Additional Responsibilities:
1. May work as part of a team in special projects.
2. Subject to 24-hour on call status

1. Ability to read and understand written requests and orders from the Housekeeping supervisor.
2. Ability to work alongside employees and get along well with other faculty, staff and students of the university.
3. Must have reliable transportation; valid Kentucky state drivers license.
4. Committed to safety measures while performing duties.
5. Must be insurable under the University insurance policy for driving.
6. Must be willing to work weekends and holidays, if required.

Education:
High School diploma preferred, but not necessary.

Language Skills:
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to department supervisors, and other employees of the Kentucky Christian University.

Reasoning Ability:
Ability to solve practical problems related to housekeeping maintenance and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

Conditions of Employment:
1. The successful candidate must be adherent to the Stone-Campbell Restoration tradition (e.g. Christian Church and/or Churches of Christ).
2. Full-time hourly Non-Exempt position. Hours: M-F 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM (noon), 12:30 PM – 4:30 PM (some evening and weekend hours as needed)
