JOB SUMMARY:
The Assistant/Associate Professor of Accounting at Kentucky State University (KSU) holds a unique role in advancing the academic mission of the University and the School of Business. This tenure-track faculty position is a nine-month appointment that will begin as soon as a well-qualified candidate can be identified and hired. Kentucky State University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position as an Assistant/Associate Professor of Accounting. The successful candidate will join our dynamic faculty in the School of Business and contribute to our academic excellence through teaching, research, and service.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Develop and teach undergraduate and graduate courses in accounting in face-to face, hybrid, and online modalities
- Conduct original research in contemporary topics in the area of accounting, leading to scholarly publications and presentations
- Advise and mentor undergraduate and graduate students in their academic and professional development
- Participate in School of Business and University service activities, including committee work and academic advising
- Contribute to the ongoing development and assessment of the accounting curriculum.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- CPA license (must be an active license)
- Professional experience in the accounting field
- Experience in online and blended teaching modalities
- Strong commitment to excellence in teaching and mentoring students
- Commitment to teaching in a Historically Black College or University (HBCU)
- Potential to conduct high-quality research and publish in reputable academic journals
- Record of successful grant writing, research, and publication preferred
- Strong commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in teaching, research, and service activities.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
- This position does have supervisory responsibility.
- Practicum supervisory responsibility for graduate-level counseling students.
OTHER DUTIES:
- To be assigned by supervisor as needed
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ph.D. in Accounting from an institutionally accredited U.S. university or comparable non-U.S. university
- College-level teaching experience
- Demonstrated expertise and scholarly activity in accounting
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and contribute to a positive work environment.
