What are the responsibilities and job description for the Process Engineer position at Keystone Powdered Metal Company?
Keystone Powdered Metal Company, a Sumitomo Electric Group company, is looking for a full-time Process Engineer who will be working in our St. Marys, PA location. This person will report to the Pilot Department Supervisor.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Work with all manufacturing facilities to troubleshoot/solve manufacturing issues and aid in scrap reduction projects.
- Play an active role in New Tool Sample Production and production Problem Solving as defined below:
- Assist Pilot Department/Manufacturing on technical issues.
- Maintain good communications between Engineering and Manufacturing.
- Assist production in troubleshooting various processing problems.
- Gain knowledge of sample processing and problems/solutions incurred in processing to be used to assist production in the manufacturing of these parts in the future.
- Authorized to make necessary changes to order sheets to ensure the quality of the parts being manufactured is maintained.
- Gather samples, collect data, and record results.
- Monitor control charts, analyze variations in the manufacturing process and provide active input to continuous process improvement.
- Monitor key manufacturing and process systems within the company to assure compliance to both internal and external specifications.
- Communicate Processing matters throughout the organization through the appropriate means.
- Make sure Process Engineering activities are carried out within all relevant safety and health requirements.
- Play an active role in the preventative maintenance programs as related to processing equipment.
- Develop and write procedures related to the processing of powdered metal (PM) parts.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Metallurgy, Material Science, or equivalent technical experience (minimum of 5 years) within the PM industry
- Good communication skills
- Basic computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint)
- Be proficient in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
Compensation may vary depending on a number of factors, including a candidate’s experience, qualifications, skills, competencies and location. Base pay is one part of the total compensation and benefits package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work.
