Seeking Psychiatric RN for direct clinical care for adolescent male residents with complex psychiatric conditions. Flexible schedule, either full or part-time. Mostly evenings and some weekends.

Responsible for organizing and providing care to patients through the process of assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation. Delegates aspects of care to other nursing personnel based upon their licensure, preparation, and job descriptions.

• Communicates pertinent medical and psychiatric information both verbally and through written documentation.
• Provides care in a non-judgmental, non-discriminatory manner that is sensitive to the patient's developmental age and to the patient's and family's diversity, preserving their autonomy, dignity, and rights.
• Maintains confidentiality in matters related to patients and families.
• Maintains a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by establishing and following standards and procedures
• Completes medication refills in an accurate manner consistent with policy and good nursing practice including verifying allergies and/or contraindications. Educates patients and families about medications and potential side effects.
• Obtains insurance pre-authorization for medications and tracks prior authorizations.
• Supports in scheduling patients for appointments when needed.
• Assists in completing and coordinating referrals

Qualifications:

• Minimum of two years’ experience as a psychiatric nurse, with a working knowledge regarding a broad spectrum of mental health/behavioral conditions and their respective multi-modal interventions preferred.
• Demonstrates an understanding of the significant connection between medical and psychological conditions and thus has an ability to view a patient in a holistic manner preferred.
• Possesses experience and effectiveness with de-escalation of acute crises and behavioral exacerbations.
• Possesses knowledge of psychiatric medications, their indications, interactions, and side effects preferred.
• Current nursing licensure in state(s) of employment

· Obtain Psychiatry RN Certification within a year of hire preferred
