Overview

A Teacher at Kid City is responsible for establishing and maintaining a safe, healthy and nurturing learning environment. Additionally, a teacher is responsible to work together with other teachers and in conjunction with the entire faculty.

General Qualifications

• High School Diploma (Required)
• Experience working in a licensed childcare facility (Preferred)
• CPR Certification (Preferred)
• Ability to lift and carry children and other items weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Must be able to pass state background check.
• Must have a flexible schedule.
• Must be reliable & teachable

Teacher Responsibilities

A Teacher’s responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Establish and maintain a safe, healthy, and nurturing environment.
• Responsible for the overall supervision and daily class functions of a group of children.
• Develop an appropriate classroom management system to support the goals and developmental level of the children in the classroom.
• Observe and comply with all rules and regulations at Kid City USA as well as local, state, or national regulatory agencies pertaining to the health, safety and care of children.
• Assess each child’s developmental need on an ongoing basis.
• Implement lesson plans and follow daily classroom schedules.
• Present age- and developmentally appropriate expectations for all children.
• Encourage creativity through art, music, dramatic play, and blocks.
• Provide a reasonable balance between teacher-directed and child-directed activities.
• Provide opportunities for both active and quiet play.
• Plan and implement activities to develop children’s self-esteem and social skills.
• Plan and implement activities to enable children’s feeling of security.
• Maintain an attractive, well-kept classroom that encourages children to create, explore and make decisions with confidence.
• Accept responsibility for maintenance and necessary cleaning duties of the classroom, common use areas and playground.
• Provides verbal recognition and acceptance to children while providing clear and consistent expectations for children.
• Maintain a professional appearance and attitude adhering to the employee handbook.
• Maintain the classroom Parent Board.
• Attend faculty meetings, in-service days, conferences and professional growth opportunities

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $14.00 - $16.00 per hour

Expected hours: 10 – 20 per week
