JOB DUTIES: Serves as shift operator in charge of an oil (or gas) fired steam plant on a regular recurring basis. Responsible for overall plant operating parameters/outputs, as well as minor maintenance for all equipment within the plant. Maintains proper pressures and flow rates, bringing additional boilers online as required. Accomplishes timely shutdowns of equipment and makes proper notifications to prevent loss of damage to property or to perform a scheduled preventive maintenance. Makes scheduled rounds within the plant, records all required data in proper logs, sounds tanks and coordinates with fuel delivery personnel. Follows all emergency operation procedures and reports any require deviations. Responsible for overall cleanliness and security/access of plant spaces. Accomplishes plant equipment repairs. May be scheduled for 12-hour shift coverage.

EDUCATION: High School Diploma or GED
EXPERIENCE: Must have a minimum of six (6) years journey-level experience and have completed a formal apprenticeship or equivalent formal vocational/technical training program on industrial boiler operator. Each complete year of accredited college education in a related field may be substituted for the equivalent number of years of required experience. Must have the ability to effectively read, write, and speak the English language.
