Summary:

The Community Schools Site Coach is responsible for the implementation, integration, alignment, and coordination of the community school strategy at the site level. The CSS is responsible for facilitating the process of whole school transformation and establishing the strategies for positive student outcomes. The CSC will work in partnership with the school administrator and the Site Based leadership team to assess the school community needs. The CSC will perform a root cause analysis; coordinate all student and family support services and partners; and create a Community Schools strategic plan. The CSC facilitates a learning environment in partnership with school administration that supports student achievement and wellness based on the 6 key practices of Community Schools. The CSC will promote powerful student and family engagement, collaborative leadership, shared power and voice, expand, culturally enriched learning opportunities, rigorous community- connected classroom instruction, and a culture of belonging.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Will assist with engaging in outreach and support to students, parents, and community.
  • Employ problem- solving using techniques and use proper referral procedures when necessary.
  • Identify, recruit and coordinate people and organizations to offer programs and services for students and families at the identified community schools.
  • Maintain good work relations and communication with students, their families and staff.
  • Attend Professional Development for Community Schools.
  • Will assist in the collection of data for board reports and community reports.
  • To assist with remote positive linkages connections and referral mechanisms to community providers for a range of services relating to student safety.
  • Comply with all Board of Education policies, administrative regulations, Public Education Department guidelines and local/ state/ federal laws.
  • Attend a partner meeting with the Community Schools Coordinator as needed.
  • Track and maintain Community Schools programmatic/ event participation data in collaboration with the Principal and the Community Schools Coordinator.
  • Contribute to grant applications and reports as needed.
  • Attend and provide updates at Community Schools team meetings.
  • Support ongoing need assessments in order to identify gaps in programs, services, and supports as well as capacity and assets.
  • Facilitate the ongoing communication between service providers, site Leadership, Principal, and District Community Schools Coordinator.
  • Other duties as assigned, reasonably related to the scope of the position. 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BA Degree with emphasis on education preferred
  • Be able to obtain a New Mexico license within one year
  • Must be knowledgeable on various technology and reports 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Experience in working with student who are members of a minority population including but not limited to Native/ Navajo tribal members
  • Good customer service
  • Alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent or assigned designee may find appropriate and acceptable
  • Ability to speak, write, read and understand English
  • Ability to handle student information with confidentiality 
  • Position requires travel with the community
  • Experience with project management, collaboration, supervision, and evaluation
  • Ability to maintain effective community partner, family, student, and co-worker relationships.
  • Knowledge on focus group and date desegregation
  • Must possess problem solving skills

Physical/Job Requirements:

Standing, sitting, walking, lifting, carrying up to 50 pounds, climbing, bending, reaching, kneeling, driving a vehicle, traveling long distances, writing, typing, word processing, reading, researching information, and effective communication skills.

  • Knowledge of universal hygiene precautions

  • Multimedia equipment, including current technology
  • Equipment/materials relevant to the job responsibilities
  • Valid driver license and insurable by district if necessary
