Caribou Baristas

Position Overview : Caribou Coffee Baristas and associates provide excellent customer service while taking orders, preparing specialty drinks and food products and promoting retail items.

Some of the specific duties of the position include but are not limited to:

· Prepare, brew and serve Coffee of the Day (COD) (check brew schedule)

· Make hot, cold and blended beverages

· Operate espresso machine and beverage screen

· Prepare Caribou drinks to order with focus on quality, accuracy and consistency

· Ensure Caribou standards are met concerning all drink and food products

· Prepare breakfast sandwiches, bakery and other food items

· Maintain bakery presentation and freshness

· Restock mixing stations

· Calibrate the espresso machines

· Direct customers to the pickup counter, mixing stations, etc.

· Engage and educate customers about products including merchandise and beans

· Suggestively sell and upsell beans, merchandise, flavor shots, extra espresso shots, etc.

· Maintain product knowledge of food items, drink items and ingredients

· Maintain knowledge of seasonal coffees, drinks and food items

· Maintain knowledge of current sales, promotions and discounts

Accept payment for purchases and complete each transaction

· Make eye contact with the customer

· Use the registers correctly and adhere to all cash-handling policies

· Ring up and count out funds accurately and timely following established procedures

· Offer a warm “thank you and come again”

· Assist in the completion of packaging the customer’s order (if applicable)

· Adheres to all standards for food safety and sanitization, including all health and safety standards, and state health department standards

· Participates and takes initiative to keep department clean and sanitized (bar area, counters, prep area, mixing station, etc.)

· Ensures all safe operating procedures are adhered to

· Observes and documents temperature check sheets as directed

· Observes and reports the functioning of equipment including safety devices anticipating problems before they occur. Report to Manager as needed.

· Defrost cases, freezers as directed where indicated

· Observe all security standards

· Be alert and aware of the behavior of the people in the store

· Report any theft concerns to the manager

· Do not waste store supplies

· Observe all safety precautions.

· Keep point of sale stands stocked with supplies

· Pick up/sweep up anything on the floor

· Spray and wipe down all counters, tables and chairs regularly

· If it doesn’t sparkle - clean it

· Be observant of the windows, doors, garbage cans conditions. Keep them sparkling.

· Reorganize cluttered areas as often as necessary

· Continually straighten all rugs

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

· Continuous standing, lifting, bending

· Ability to lift and carry 20 lbs. regularly

· Ability to lift and carry 40 lbs. occasionally

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

· Be at least 16 years of age

· Proficiency in basic math skills.

· First-class interpersonal communication skills.

· Fantastic service ethic

· Previous cashier, barista, food service or other customer service experience preferred.

· Ability to work early mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays.

This location is operated as a franchise under the ownership JND Holdings, Inc. and operated within KJ's Fresh Market of Chetek.
