Iron workers for Klinger Constructors, LLC perform a variety of tasks ranging from the tying and bending of rebar and remesh materials for concrete support. The iron worker performs repeated bending activities for applying the tire wire, twisting and securing the rebar joints. Structural activities include alignment of structural steel where workers may be walking along sections of 4 inch width steel 20 to 30 feet above the ground and working in pairs of two in order to pull out steel bar joists at specific distances and to align these materials with spud wrenches prior to bolting and welding procedures. Welding is performed with arc welding equipment where the iron worker must use a welding hood blocking out all other orientation and must maintain balance in a squat posture while performing welding procedures.
Iron workers must gain access to the elevated structures by climbing extension ladders, and be able to maintain kneeling, crouching and crawling postures for greater than one minute at a time.
