The Knox County Public Defender’s Office is seeking applicants for the full-time position of Assistant Public Defender in the Knox County Common Pleas Court, Juvenile Division in Mount Vernon, Ohio. The salary is negotiable based on experience. Benefits include medical, dental, and vision; OPERS state retirement.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Job duties include Juvenile Criminal Defense; Dependency, Neglect, and Abuse Defense; Civil Contempt Defense; and Adoption Defense. The ability to build a relationship with a variety of clients, including children and those with special needs is essential. Applicants should have significant legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills and experience; as well as demonstrate a capacity to work creatively and collaboratively on legal issues confronting our indigent clients. The applicant must be able to perform all duties assigned, delegated, or required of the assistant public defenders as well as those prescribed by law. The Knox County Public Defender’s office is open 8:00 am – 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday.
