Floater teacher position
A daycare floater, also called a "floating teacher" or "support staff," is a childcare worker who moves between different classrooms in a daycare center, providing assistance to lead teachers as needed, ensuring the smooth operation of the facility by filling in for absent staff, supervising children during activities, and maintaining a safe and nurturing environment across all age groups, all while adhering to established daycare policies and procedures.
Key responsibilities of a daycare floater:
Assisting lead teachers:
Supporting lead teachers in all age groups with classroom activities, diaper changes, feeding, and implementing lesson plans.
Filling in for absent staff:
· Covering for absent teachers in any classroom when needed, taking over primary responsibilities for a specific group of children.
· Supervising children:
· Actively monitoring children during playtime, transitions, and outdoor activities, ensuring their safety and following safety protocols.
· Implementing daily routines:
· Participating in established routines like mealtime, nap time, and hygiene practices, ensuring children follow the schedule.
· Maintaining a clean environment:
· Assisting with cleaning and sanitizing toys, play areas, and classroom spaces.
Communicating with parents and staff:
· Providing updates to parents regarding their child's day, coordinating with lead teachers on children's needs, and reporting any concerns.
Required skills and qualifications:
· Child development knowledge: Understanding the developmental stages of infants, toddlers, and preschoolers to provide age-appropriate activities.
Effective communication skills:
· Ability to interact clearly with children, parents, and other staff members.
Flexibility and adaptability:
· Willingness to switch between different age groups and tasks depending on the needs of the center.
Patience and positive attitude:

Physical ability:
