1. About the Role
a. Beauty company looking for an experienced Accountant to manage day-to-day accounting and business requirements. Accounting experience with organizational and analytical skills are important qualifications. The ideal candidate for this position is reliable and committed to consistently meeting deadlines. Demonstrates ownership and accountability; the ability to plan, execute, control and deliver; communicate effectively both verbally and in writing; lead and influence others effectively.
2. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
a. Accounts Payable - creating, entering and matching purchase orders; recording vendor invoices, , routing bills for approval and payment, processing expense reports.
b. Accounts Receivable – sorting and matching checks and invoices; posting cash, check and credit card payments to the proper accounts; preparing bank deposit slips, recording cash receipt information, reviewing credit memos and/or refunds; applying adjustments to accounts as necessary.
c. Organization – review, categorize and utilize data to prepare reports using NetSuite, Excel and MS Word. Maintain records and files, including journal and general ledger documentation and other miscellaneous filings.
d. Communication - interact with customers, vendors and client personnel via telephone, email, and written correspondence to respond to inquiries and provide information. Prepare daily and weekly reports and schedules as require by client / management.
3. EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:
a. Accounting System Experience (NetSuite, Sage, QuickBooks Desktop, etc.)
b. Associates Degree / Certification required; preferably in accounting or finance.
c. 1 – 3 years of related work experience in a bookkeeping, accounts payable, accounts receivable role
d. Advanced training or any equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.
4. COMPETENCIES (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES):
a. Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office products, specifically Excel.
b. Previous experience with an ERP (i.e. NetSuite) desired.
c. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
d. Ability to prioritize time and tasks, and to successfully meet deadlines.
e. Self-reliant, highly organized, self-starter who enjoys responsibility and accountability.
f. Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships with co-workers, clients, customers, and vendors.
5. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS / WORK ENVIRONMENT:
a. Work is performed in a casual, friendly, professional environment.
b. Extensive use of office equipment to include computer, calculator, copier, fax, and other business-related machines and software.
