Job Summary:
- The X-ray technician/MA responsibilities include monitoring radiology supplies, attending mandatory staff meetings and training sessions, and ensuring that the x-ray machines are set at the correct radiation levels.
- Essential Functions of the Position:
Xray technician:
- Verifying patients' identity and reviewing physicians’ orders before beginning x-ray procedures.
- Using x-ray equipment to take radiographic images per physicians’ written orders.
- Explaining x-ray procedures to patients and answering their questions.
- Assure proper loading into PACS
- Wears/utilizes film badge and turns in/replaces monthly per the standard
- Follow all state and federal compliance standards required
- Maintain HIPPA Compliance
- Positioning patients accordingly, which may include lifting and moving patients with limited mobility.
- Place and position the patient to target the anatomical site that needs to be imaged
- Limiting patients' exposure to radiation by placing lead shields on patients where needed.
- Ensuring that the x-rays taken are of sound quality to prevent repeat procedures.
- Ensuring that the x-ray equipment is regularly serviced and in good working order.
- Promptly notifying management of damaged or malfunctioning x-ray equipment.
- Maintaining an accurate record of completed x-ray procedures
- Upload images into EMR
- Upload imaging results from outside facilities into EMR
- Upload hospital consults and operative reports into EMR
- Prepare the relevant equipment, tools, and examination rooms for use
- Ensure the physical safety of the patient before, during, and after the exam
- Protects self, and other staff from radiation hazards. Practice as low as reasonable achievable (ALARA) radiation exposure when performing radiology protocols
Medical Assistant:
- Escort patients to exam rooms measure vital signs, including weight, blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and document all information in patient’s chart.
- Interview patients and document basic medical history, chief complaint medication list, allergies, etc into EMR
- Take telephone messages and provide feedback and answers to patient/physician/pharmacy
- Assist physicians during medical examinations
- Setup injections for patients
- Assist with casts, splints, and braces a patient according to the request of the evaluative medical professional
- Assist with general medical procedures including, but not limited to, bandaging, casting, donning and doffing braces, suture/staple removal under the guidance of the treating professional
- Able to assist with custom brace/orthotic measurements
- Produce and distribute correspondence memos, letters, faxes and forms
- Fill patient disability forms, DMV placard forms
- Intake and stock of supplies and deliveries, verify with packing slips, and distribute to designated areas.
- Maintain strict patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements.
- Adhere to regulatory policies and procedures.
- Present a professional image when representing service to patients and personnel.
- Attend required staff meetings and in-services.
Education and Experience:
- Active Radiological Technician license for the state of California (required)
- Medical Assistant certification (preferred)
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to multi-task and attention to detail
- Experience with EHR, eClinical is a plus!!
- Good understanding of anatomical terms and orthopedic injuries
- Knowledge of radiologic standards, requirements and regulations.
- Knowledge of radiologic safety, cleanliness and infection control policies and regulations.
- Knowledge of radiologic equipment uses and maintenance.
- Be able to operate relevant machinery and radiologic technologies
