The La Clinica occupational health nurse is responsible for overseeing and managing the health and wellness of employees at all La Clinica locations. This role involves developing and implementing programs to promote workplace safety, prevent occupational illnesses, and ensure compliance with regulatory health standards. The occupational health nurse plays a vital role in fostering a healthy and productive work environment for all staff members.

Must be able to interact with a variety of individuals at various levels under stressful circumstances while exercising sound judgement, tact, and diplomacy; work productively both independently and in a team setting; communicate with clarity, both verbally and in writing to groups and individuals.
Must be able to educate staff.

Accountabilities Include
Performs Essential Job Duties
- New Employee Health Screenings: Oversee recommended health screenings, vaccination review, and TB screening/testing for new hires.
- Injury & Illness Prevention: Develop and implement workplace safety programs, ergonomic assessments, and infection control measures, X-ray radiation monitoring program.
- Occupational Health Compliance: Ensure compliance with OSHA, CDC, and other regulatory guidelines related to employee health and workplace safety. Includes conducting annual sharps review and reviews all required safety training assigned to employees.
- Workplace Safety Programs: Conduct training sessions on workplace safety, bloodborne pathogens, and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Works with Safety Committees to ensure standards for hazard communication are met.
- Work-related Injury Management: Manage follow up and exposure screening for work-related injuries, and coordinate with external occupational healthcare providers for treatment plans as needed.
- Health Education & Wellness: Promote wellness initiatives such as flu vaccinations, mental health resources, smoking cessation programs, and healthy lifestyle education.
- Disease Control & Prevention: Monitor and manage infectious disease outbreaks within the facility, including contact tracing and reporting when necessary. Plan and implement annual flu vaccination events for employees.
- Respiratory Protection and Infection Control Plan Administer: Review, update as needed and ensure compliance with plans. Performs annual respirator fit testing for new employees and annually.
- Record Keeping & Reporting: Maintain accurate and confidential employee health records, track immunization compliance, monitor and assess trends of work-related illnesses/injuries and generate reports for leadership.
- Collaboration: Work closely with HR, administration, and staff to ensure a safe and supportive work environment.

Required
Education and/or Experience :
- Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Oregon
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in nursing
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations, workers’ compensation, and infection control procedures
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, problem solving and communication skills
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion
- Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) and Microsoft Office Suite
- Skills to intervene and promote reconciliation, compromise, and positive outcomes in difficult interactions.
- Certified Occupational Health Nurse (COHN)
- Experience in occupational health, public health, or employee health nursing
