Laguna Blanca School seeks a full time Maintenance & Grounds Technician starting in mid May. This role is essential to maintaining the beauty, safety, and functionality of the school grounds and facilities. We are looking for a hard-working and dedicated individual to join our team. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, capable of working independently and collaboratively, and willing to perform a variety of tasks each workday.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Tasks range from general building/property maintenance and landscaping (i.e. mowing lawns, using blowers to clean walkways, etc.) The right applicant will have at least two years’ experience in general maintenance/construction and/or gardening. Some of the responsibilities of the position are as follows:

• Assist with general property maintenance, such as painting, minor repairs, and upkeep of outdoor structures
• Use and maintain basic hand tools and light power tools, including drills, circular saws, and grinders
• Perform basic custodial tasks using proper cleaning chemicals and personal protective equipment
• Ensure the overall cleanliness and organization of school grounds and work areas
• General familiarity with basic plumbing repairs and maintenance a plus
• Use and maintain basic hand tools and light power tools, including drills, circular saws, and grinders
• Identify and report maintenance and safety issues promptly
• Set up and break down for school events as needed
• Operate and maintain groundskeeping equipment, including lawn mowers, blowers, trimmers, and other landscaping tools
• Perform irrigation system maintenance, including repairs and adjustments
• Conduct routine gardening, including planting, pruning, weeding, and mulching
• Assist with special projects and campus improvements as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience in general maintenance/construction
• Familiarity with standard maintenance tools and equipment
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving
• Willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends for school-related events or projects

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORK ENVIRONMENT

• Must be able to traverse school facility and lead students to safety in the event of an emergency
• Occasionally bend, stoop, squat and lift up to 40 lbs as part of job duties
• Have a current TB Assessment
• Must provide a clear fingerprint test and background check
• Have CPR and First Aid certifications or have the ability to become certified upon employment

COMPENSATION

Hourly range $21.00 - $25.00 depending on experience. Benefits include medical, dental, vision and retirement.
